Hartford Marathon 2009

Mike finished his first full marathon, the Hartford Marathon,
on October 10, 2009 in honor of our son. Jack gave his daddy wings
and the strength, determination, and courage to push through the
entire 26.2 miles. I met Mike at the finish line with, of course,
tears in my eyes. He did it! He did it for Baby Jack.

  1. Yay on finishing the marathon, Mike! I'm sure that was an extremely bittersweet experience.

I'm here from LFCA -- remembering Jack with you, and please know that you're not alone.

  2. Hi - also visiting from LFCA. Inspiring, the event, the broad smile your faces, the post-running hug. Nice to know that life still happens even after awful awfulness like death. So sorry for your loss. And yes - as Tash said - know you are not alone.

  4. I just did a half marathon to honor my girls that passed away on July 1st and July 7th, 2008 after being born too soon (causes of my premature labor unknown)on Nov 15th in San Diego. Like you running helps me with my grief. Way to go! I know your son was SO PROUD!

  5. I am so sorry to learn of the loss of your sweet son. One of my best friends ran the Hartford Marathon this year, and last, in honor of our daughter who passed in October of 2008 at just a month old. I had wanted to run it, but found it too difficult a task while grieving. Your husbands strength to carry out this marathon so soon after your loss is awe inspiring.
